The Matching Process

Why do I match my puppies?

As a breeder, it is my duty to ensure that my puppies are successfully matched to their forever homes. Some puppies are more confident and require an experienced home, some are laidback and would suit a young family, there are so many combinations.

Everyone's lifestyles are also so different, some live a fast paced, active lifestyle, some have small children to consider, work hours etc. So it is important I advocate for my puppies and choose the best home for them and the best puppy for you.

Because of this, I do not run a typical 'waiting list'. I do have a waiting list, of potential owners who have expressed interest in one of our puppies. However just because you are 1st on this list, does not mean you get pick of the litter. Please read the process below to see how it all works.

Fill in an Application Form

After you've had a read of our website/ social media pages, the first thing we ask everyone to do is fill in our application form. This expresses clear interest in becoming a potential future owner to one of our puppies. This gives you a chance to tell us all about you, your family, your current pets, past pet experiences, your lifestyle etc.

Video/ Phone call

Once we've received your application form, we at Gems Pomskies HQ will read through it and get a feel for if you'll be a good fit for one of our puppies. If successful, we will be in touch to organise a phone call or video call. This gives both parties a chance to ask questions and get to know one another and what they are looking for in a new best friend. I truly believe that when you buy a puppy from us, you become part of our family, so we both need to feel comfortable with one another. Trust is a major part in this process, as you are trusting me to match you to your perfect pomsky pup and I am entrusting you with a little piece of my heart - your new puppy.

Meet me and the pack

If the call goes well, you will be invited to come meet me, my family and the pack. Where we will have another chat, answering any more questions that arise and any preferences you may have within our pack. It always intrigues me to see which of the pack is everyone's favourite.

To Join our Waiting list

Once the above stages have been complete, you will be placed onto our 'waiting list'. Which is when I will ask for a £250 deposit to secure your place on the waiting list for upcoming litters. All our waiting list are kept up to date with mating announcements, confirmed pregnancy announcements and litter birth announcements.

Meet pups at 4/5 weeks

Once puppies are on the ground, we begin to see their characters develop, this is one of my favourite parts of the process. We begin the meet and greets for matching at 4/5 weeks dependent on the puppies progress. Usually around this time I am able to successfully match puppy to new family. I will offer you this puppy and ask you to sleep on your decision.

Come and visit more

We always welcome visitors, especially if you have the time to come and see your puppy in the run up to taking them home. During this stage, you will be kept updated with regular updates and I will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. I will also advise you on the best course of action concerning the transition period from breeder to your home.

Take your puppy home

Usually pups will be ready to leave at 8 weeks(no sooner), however this may vary dependent on the individuals puppy's progress, vet appointments and which day you'd like to bring your puppy home. Some puppies benefit from an extra few days with their mother before leaving however, this isn't usually the case. At time of pick up, you will receive your puppy along with a full, comprehensive puppy pack that will set your puppy up for this transition period, as well as give you any guidance you should need.

Life time support

I will always be at the end of the phone if you require support or reassurance at any stage, but especially in the first few weeks. I will always do my best by you and your puppy.
